We target high basins and windswept ridges from August through mid-October, when goats are most active and hides are prime. Access is by horseback or foot, with conditions ranging from open meadows to near-vertical rock.

What makes mountain goat hunting unique in your area?
Our goat hunts take place in rugged alpine terrain where we glass from high ridges and travel on foot. You’ll be hunting in truly wild country with no pressure from roads or other outfitters. The experience is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding.
How are mountain goat camps structured?
Depending on the area and weather, you’ll hunt from either a horse-accessed spike camp with a wall tent and stove, or backpack into the alpine with tents and freeze-dried meals. Both setups are chosen to maximize your proximity to active goat areas.
What level of fitness is recommended?
Mountain goat hunts require good physical condition. Backpack hunts involve carrying 40–50 lbs in steep, rocky terrain. While you don’t need to be a triathlete, mental toughness and preparation go a long way in helping you enjoy the experience.
What’s included after the harvest?
Once your goat is down, we’ll pack the meat, cape, and horns back to base camp. Your trophy will be prepped for inspection and transport. You can take it with you or have it shipped via Dakota Taxidermy, which handles U.S. and international transfers.
Mountain goat hunts run from August through mid-October. Once you’re booked, we’ll send a full gear list and walk you through everything you need to be ready, physically and logistically. Most hunters fly into Whitehorse, Yukon, where we’ll arrange travel to camp. From there, we access goat country by horseback or foot, depending on terrain and weather. This is a physically demanding hunt, and preparation matters. If you’re ready to test yourself in serious mountain country, we’re ready to guide you. Book Now We run a limited number of goat hunts each year to preserve quality and opportunity. Spots fill quickly, lock in your hunt now and start your preparation.
