Our Dall sheep hunts take place deep in the northern ranges of British Columbia, where rams average 36–37 inches with excellent mass and maturity, most taken at 9 to 10 years of age. These are true alpine hunts, with limited tags, big country, and long glassing sessions in rugged, exposed terrain between 5,000 and 7,000 feet.
While some hunts are horseback-assisted, most are backpack-based, requiring multi-day hikes into remote basins with 40–50 lb packs. You’ll live out of a tent and earn every inch of elevation.
- 14-day hunts to allow for weather, travel, and the pursuit of a mature ram
- Hunts run August through early September, prime season in high country
- Strong trophy quality with high age class and heavy-horned rams
- Trophy prep and shipping assistance included
This is a serious mountain hunt, for those prepared to go farther and push harder.
How long is the Dall sheep hunt, and why?
Our Dall sheep hunts are 14 days to account for travel time, terrain, weather, and the need to reach remote sheep habitat. This schedule gives you the best chance at locating and harvesting a mature ram.
Are Dall sheep hunts conducted on horseback or on foot?
Most sheep hunts are backpack-based. You’ll hike into the alpine and cover large expanses of terrain on foot, glassing ridgelines and valleys. Expect to carry 40–50 lbs in your pack and live out of a tent in remote conditions.
What’s the success rate and difficulty level?
Sheep hunting is physically and mentally demanding, with long days in unpredictable weather. Success depends on your fitness, weather conditions, and persistence. We hunt in quality sheep country and give you the time and support needed to succeed.
What happens to the trophy after the hunt?
Once harvested, your ram is packed out to base camp, where we prep the cape and horns. You may take your trophy home after inspection, or we can coordinate shipping through Dakota Taxidermy in North Dakota.
Sheep season runs from early August through mid-September. Most hunters fly into Whitehorse, Yukon, where we’ll arrange transport into base camp. From there, we use horses to access remote sheep country, with long days on foot in steep terrain. You’ll receive a detailed gear list and prep guide after booking. Physical conditioning is critical, come ready to climb, glass, and stay mentally sharp for the full duration of the hunt. Book Now We offer a very limited number of Dall sheep hunts each year.
